When I open books the only things I see are the pictures of my blinded brothers, paralyzed elders, and bleeding Kashmir

John Deway once said, “Education is not preparation for life, education is life itself.”
Last week as the entire world celebrated the “World Students Day” our Kashmir remained education less for last 100 days. While whole world is enjoying the fruits of education, Kashmiri students are thirsting to even see their books.
Education is the process of facilitating learning, knowledge, skills, values, briefs and habits. It is the most important and must thing for human. Education makes a standing body good enough to be called a human. Education is life. Where there is no education there is no life.
While the ongoing Kashmir “unrest” entered into the fourth month last week, educational institutes too are remained close since July. Numbers are not enough to describe the lost students have faced so far.
Everyone is “house arrested” in Kashmir, students see their future inside the four walls of their house. They now dream to wear that bag again on their shoulders, wear that uniform, pray in school grounds, hear those worthy moral lectures, and gain the invulnerable education.
While students from other parts of world are making their careers in different fields, Kashmiri students are either blinded or attending hospitals. Some of the students who aspired to become doctors have lost their eye sights and are being treated at different hospitals and dream to see the single ray of light. While others are sleeping inside graves, and others who were lone bread earners are paralyzed for life.
I am myself a Kashmiri student, and when I open books the only things I see are the pictures of my blinded brothers, paralyzed elders, and bleeding Kashmir. Such bloody scenes keep coming in front of my eyes, and I can’t forget them even for a second.
I also had many dreams, but now I only dream to see my blinded brothers and sisters get their eye sight back, and my brothers who are dying with pain to recover soon.
I am a Kashmiri student
I am education less, book less, teacher less
I am tearful, heartbroken, joy less
I don’t see anything
Without four walls of my house
My ears hear
My brothers yelling in the hospitals
My eyes see
Blood flowing through streets
I am living a life
Without education and joy
Is this a life?
