Parvez Rasool in Bangladesh:J&K skipper makes mark with his all-round brilliance
SRINAGAR:
Jammu and Kashmir star all-rounder and state’s lone international
cricketer Parvez Rasool didn’t have an auspicious couple of months after
making T-20 debut for India. He didn’t set world on fire in his maiden
T-20 appearance for India against England. It went from bad to worse
when his Indian Premier franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore decided to
release him which meant the J&K skipper had to go under the hammer
in the IPL auction. February auction didn’t have any good news in store
for Parvez with none of the franchise showing any interest to buy him
despite having a stellar Ranji trophy season. He had trials with Rising
Supergiant Pune before the start of the tenth edition, but think tank
preferred offie Washington Sunder over him.
His IPL snub surprised one and all, but it didn’t mean Parvez was out of action. He was offered a contract by a Dhaka based Bangladesh cricket franchise-Gazi Group Cricketers-to play in the Dhaka Division Premier League. Parvez didn’t waste this opportunity to show his talent, making mark in the DDPL both with the bat and ball.
He has made winning contribution to most of the games he has played this far in the tournament. After making solid 53 in the debut game for his new side, Parvez-the offie-came up with a man of the match winning performance taking four wickets for just 28 in the second game. His performance got better by the day snaring three wickets from his ten overs at the expense of just 17 runs. Fourth game saw Parvez the batsman come to party scoring a quickfire fifty to play a lead role in his side’s winning show.
Parvez puts his match winning performances to the hardwork he put before the tournament.
"First of all I'm thankful of Almighty.Performing well is always delighting especially in these tough conditions. I am going good here and I'll try to maintain my good form and keep helping my team in coming matches. Winning matches for team is what matters the most,” Parvez told Kashmir Observer.
The quality of cricket-Parvez says-is top notch.
"It is overwhelming to see the quality of cricket being played here. All international stars are playing here and competitive level is very high. Our team has won all the four matches and is on top of the table. Team performance adds to player’s confidence and we will try to keep this up,” says Parvez.
The J&K skipper feels there was lot to learn from various good players on the show in the DDPL.
"It has been a great learning experience for me over here. With each day passing get to learn a lot of things and I will try to improve my game further,” says a confident Parvez.
As of now, Parvez will want to continue giving telling performances and hope to be back in the reckoning in the bigger scheme of things as far his career is concerned.
